The Taste of Tasmania is Tasmania's largest food and wine festival. Established in 1988, the Festival operates from late December– to early January and will celebrate its 33rd year in 2023. The festival is held in Hobart's Salamanca Place and waterfront precinct. The main event venue has been the Princes Wharf No 1 Shed.
Delightful cuisine, beverages, artistry, music, and socializing – these elements define the essence of the Taste of Tasmania. This highly anticipated festival makes a recurring appearance in the heart of Hobart, establishing itself as one of the most cherished events of the year.
Artisanal food producers and restaurant proprietors from the local community showcase their offerings through enticing food stalls that are bound to entice you for seconds. Tempting tasting tables are sure to arouse your appetite, while a multitude of beverage stalls are prepared to satiate your thirst in the distinctive Tasmanian manner.
Around the end of December each year, at the Taste of Tasmania, experience the sights, sounds and tastes of lively Tasmania. Held at Princes Wharf, Castray Esplanade (Franklin Wharf) in Hobart, it’s a week that is definitely not to be missed.
Easy bus routes are available (https://moovitapp.com) or you can drive there in 5 minutes from Hobart by way of Murray Street then onto Elizabeth Street. Google maps will show you the way.

Entrance to the festival grounds is free. Food, drinks and gift/art items are available for purchase.
If your taking a holiday and renting a motorhome in Tasmania to see the finish of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race you will find most if not all of the campervan rental and motorhome hire places at Christmas are only in Hobart. Also usually a 10 day minimum hire from dec 15 till Feb 15 each year.
